The proposal was to redevelop the site into an ExtraCare home with residential houses to the south.

Galliford Try appointed Acoustic Consultants Ltd to provide noise and acoustic advice for the development which comprises of ExtraCare apartments and a “Village Centre” within a new build concrete frame building.
The proposal was to redevelop the site into an ExtraCare home with residential houses to the south. The main source of noise affecting the site was road traffic along the surrounding highway network
The scheme was required to comply with Approved Document ‘E’ (ADE) of Building Regulations. The Regulation E1 criteria of ADE relates to the internal sound insulation between dwellings and dwellings and communal spaces. Our report provided comment on the internal separating and flanking element constructions and, where necessary, mitigation measures were proposed which aimed to achieve this requirement.
We provided internal sound insultation advice between the non-residential spaces to achieve the requirements of BREEAM Hea 5, 2014. We also issued guidance on façade and ventilation measures to achieve the planning and BREEAM requirements and the reverberations time within the rooms used for speech or public speaking as required by BREEAM Hea 5.
The Village is a partnership between South Gloucestershire Council, Bristol City Council, Homes England and The ExtraCare Charitable Trust and is due to open in late 2018.
