School of Management - University of Bath
The site is located on the main campus at Claverton Down, Bath. The development will comprise a seven-storey building, which includes a basement.
The University of Bath appointed Acoustic Consultants Ltd to carry out a noise survey to set noise limits for the construction activities associated with the construction of the School of Management. We were also appointed to complete construction noise monitoring to ensure that the nearby residential receivers are not adversely affected.
Using our experience on numerous construction schemes across the UK, we are undertaking detailed noise monitoring using dedicated cloud-based monitoring systems, such as Noisescout by NTI Audio and Svannet by Svantek.
We are assisting the university to ensure the noise limits of BS5228 are met. The monitors issue instant alerts to us and the main stakeholders if noise limits are exceeded. This ensures the contractor can be reactive to real-time events and can protect the residential amenity accordingly.
The university is investing £70 million in academic infrastructure to become an international leader in graduate education and one of the top 50 global business schools. The building is set to open in 2021 and the project will create over 100 permanent new jobs and is expected to increase income to the university by more than £450 million over 25 years.
Professor Veronica Hope Hailey, Dean of the School of Management and Vice-President (Corporate Engagement) said: “This new building will harness our energy and conviction for world-class research and teaching, driving creativity, ambition and innovation. The investment will ensure that the School and University can compete and thrive globally, particularly as Brexit unfolds.”
