The £35 million site which is directly opposite Swansea train station, was bought up by Watkin Jones.

Ty Nant, Swansea

Acoustic Consultants Ltd were appointed by Watkin Jones in February 2021 to carry out an environmental noise and vibration assessment to support a planning application.

The former HMRC Tax Office at Ty Nant, Swansea, is to be turned into new 350-bed student accommodation. The building has been mostly vacant since 2014.

Watkin Jones said the plan would help offer “much needed” housing for the student population that has grown by 11.5% in the space of three years.

Alex Pease, chief investment officer at Watkin Jones, said: “There is pressure on local housing for students that in turn puts pressure on the wider market, so we’re excited to bring forward our proposals to revitalise this site for the long-term and create a brilliant new place to live.”

The re-development is due to complete in 2023 ready for the start of the academic year.
