Wimple Street, London

We were appointed to undertake a construction noise and vibration assessment for the excavation of a basement and lower ground floor at a property in Wimpole Street, London

Wimpole Street, London

The works comprise: the excavation of additional basement floor and extension of existing lower ground floor, the erection of replacement rear extension at ground floor level and formation of a first floor terrace, and fourth floor terrace. Also, the erection of mansard roof to the mews building, use of basement and lower ground floor as a granny annexe and ground to fourth floors as a single family dwelling (Class C3). The works include internal and external alterations including new lift and lift shaft.

The construction noise and vibration assessment was submitted as part of a Section 61 application to Westminster Council for the contractor. We were subsequently appointed to undertake the required long-term noise and vibration monitoring during the construction works. Utilising Sonitus real-time monitoring systems we set up four meters on site. The meters issued instant alerts to us and the main stakeholders if noise and vibration limits were close to being exceeded. This ensured the contractor could be reactive to real-time events and protect the residential amenity accordingly.
