Cheltenham Crematorium

Following extensive consultation with local residents in 2015, Cheltenham Council gained overwhelming support for plans for a new building. The £8.5m redevelopment of the old crematorium at Bouncer’s Lane Cemetery will bring two new chapels just to the east of the cemetery, along with two new cremators.

Built using Cotswold stone features, the new chapels will reflect their setting in the local landscape and will benefit from extensive views toward the hills, generating a tranquil and beautiful environment.

The specialist cremator equipment has been manufactured and installed by Leeds based company, Facultatieve Technologies Ltd.

Councillor Chris Coleman, cabinet member for clean and green environment said: “When completed, the new facilities will provide a first class service for the residents of Cheltenham, the surrounding areas and all who use our bereavement service. We will continue to work hard to make sure our new crematorium remains on track and on budget to open in spring 2019.”

Acoustic Consultants Ltd were appointed in the early stages of the redevelopment by Roberts Limbrick Ltd in order to carry out a Noise Impact Assessment in relation to potential noise from the cremator plant. Following this work, we were then appointment by Willmott Dixon to provide internal acoustic, sound insulation and plant noise advice.

Work began in 2017 and the project is due to be completed on time and in budget with the first services set to be held in the new crematorium in March 2019.
