Residential
At the initial stage, a noise impact assessment may be necessary for planning.
Noise affecting a residential development can be an issue for planning consultants, architects contractors and private owners.
Since our inception we have advised on hundred of successful new residential developments across the UK. Our projects have included singular dwellings to large multi use developments.
For residential dwellings we can offer a range of services from the initial planning stage through to completion
- We provide advice to architects, planners and contractors to assess existing external environments to achieve good conditions both internally with suitably designed noise attenuating façades and externally with suitably designed barriers and bunds.
- As the scheme progresses, we provide detail design advice for Approved Document ‘E’ of Building Regulations, BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes and the Home Quality Mark.
- During the build, we can undertake site inspections and provide ongoing advice to the contractor and design team.
- Finally, close to the end of the development we are equipped to undertake the post construction testing for Building Regulations approval.
At the initial stage, a noise impact assessment may be necessary for planning. Controlling external noise is a requirement of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) in England and the Planning Policy in Wales. In addition, where there are no planning requirements there could be client led requirements to control noise.
The purpose of controlling noise affecting a residential scheme is to ensure that the dwellings are fit for purpose and external noise will not adversely affect the users. We provide advice to architects, planners and contractors to assess existing external environments to achieve good conditions both internally with suitably designed noise attenuating façades and externally with suitably designed barriers and bunds.
We have been providing successful environmental noise advice for residential schemes for over 25 years, recent projects include large scale residential schemes for the UK’s largest developers such as Persimmon and Redrow to smaller sustainable developers such as HAB housing. For more information see our Noise Impact Assessment services page.
As the scheme progresses we provide detail design advice for Approved Document ‘E’ of Building Regulations, BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes, and the recently published Home Quality Mark. We have over 25 years’ of experience within traditional heavy weight construction techniques and light weight schemes including timber and metal frame.
During the build we can undertake site inspections and provide ongoing advice to the contractor and design team. Finally close to the end of the development we are equipped to undertake the post construction testing for Building Regulations approval.
